The inception of Pedivan's website marked my entry into the world of Wix and web design. Pedivan, a bicycle courier service in London, was a venture I embarked on with my best friend in 2017. Starting with just two bikes, we juggled roles as riders, managers, and mechanics. Limited funds meant we couldn't hire a web designer, so I took on the task, recognizing every business, regardless of size, needs an online presence.

This DIY project on Wix wasn't just a necessity; it became a passion. As I continued my courier work, I offered web design services to our business clients who lacked an online platform. These were my initial forays into professional web design.

Gradually, my enthusiasm shifted more towards web design than logistics. I eventually sold my Pedivan stake to delve deeper into web development. Barber Bro's Southwark is a quintessential neighborhood barbershop in London, nestled near the south bank of the River Thames. Its owner, Peter, entrusted me to create a website that mirrors the establishment's ethos—a blend of London's traditional charm and contemporary sophistication, with a welcoming and upscale vibe.

Peter's primary goal was to streamline the booking process, making it highly accessible and prominently featured. To achieve this, I employed Velo coding to design an intuitive booking interface at the top of the homepage, ensuring visibility 'above the fold.' Further down, I included a comprehensive "Our Services" section with an embedded booking form. This allows clients to explore services and secure appointments seamlessly, without the need to navigate away from the homepage.

Emma, the entrepreneur behind The Naked Birth, came to me with a precise idea for both the aesthetics and content of her desired website. Remarkably, she had already designed the entire layout on Canva and sought my expertise to transform her vision into a fully operational and responsive website, compatible with all devices.

The task of converting her vibrant, energetic, and colorful Canva creation into a live website was an enjoyable challenge. I was delighted to meet Emma's expectations and deliver a final product that brought her satisfaction.

MicroNova Security, a cybersecurity firm, caters to small businesses, offering cost-effective measures to safeguard their data, devices, and systems. Anthony, the company's owner, commissioned a website that exudes energy and modernity, articulated through a dynamic interplay of bright and dark hues.

For MicroNova's site, I pioneered the use of a "quick response bar" that remains fixed at the bottom of the mobile display. This feature, exclusive to mobile users, streamlines communication by enabling visitors to call, send a Whatsapp message, or email the business with just one tap from the website. This innovative function turned out to be exceptionally effective, leading to an uptick in lead generation. Encouraged by this success, I began to incorporate the quick response bar into the websites of other clients, many of whom now report similar satisfaction and improved engagement.

Neurodivergent Birth, founded by doula Victoria White in February 2023, was established to enhance recognition and sensitivity towards the perinatal experiences of neurodivergent individuals. Victoria approached me with a vision for her website that called for a design that was both cheerful and trustworthy. She supplied a specific color palette and illustrations to infuse the site with a playful yet dependable atmosphere.

Key features of the website include a doula directory and a podcast section. Victoria's requirement was that these areas should be user-friendly, enabling her to personally update and maintain the directory and podcast listings with new team members or episodes as the platform grows.

Aimee Broome helps Mums and their partners going through pregnancy and the challenges that life has to offer after giving birth to a baby.

She offers ticketed events, pre-recorded video courses, and one-on-one sessions both in person and via Zoom. I made the design and functionality of these three different categories (which by default come in different apps in the editor) seamless by using Velo codes.

I structured pages for Shop (Meals, Beverages, Charcuterie, etc.), Blog, and Contact, with a clean navigation and responsive layout. The design emphasises purity, taste and conscious living while making it easy for visitors to browse products and convert.

Fundy Woods needed a stunning online presence to match their picturesque campground near the world-famous Bay of Fundy. We created a beautiful design complemented by a professional photo and video shoot that takes the site's curb appeal to the next level. We fully integrated their existing booking system and aded a custom widget for managing new sites, amenities, FAQs, rules, and more, the site is as easy to manage as it is beautiful.

As a small, locally run Farmer's Market in the picturesque town of Woodstock, the Woodstock Farm Market needed a place to showcase their venders that budget friendly and easy to manage for their time strapped volunteers. Vendor information, event dates, faqs, team members and more can all be managed from the easy to use CMS, making regular site updates quick and easy.

With the Canada Games returning to New Brunswick, Team NB wanted a digital upgrade. We originally created a simpler site to share memories of past games a few years ago, but this new version takes it to the next level. The site now features participant profiles, medal stats, photo galleries, and sport histories in an easy-to-navigate layout. We transformed a massive collection of data into a clean, searchable experience that makes it easy for users to find exactly what they need.

Built in Wix Studio, this project was a big one. These professional storytellers from Pixar offer a world-class course for youth and adults alike. From livestreams to team management, paid memberships to storytelling magic—we brought it all together with care and precision. Collaborating with an incredible team, including Pixar’s Tony DeRose, was a true highlight.

Originally spread across multiple sites, we helped this large organization consolidate everything into one powerful hub. Now, customer management, email marketing, and site content can be shared across all departments with ease. Custom permission levels allow different team members to manage specific sections based on their roles. An advanced membership section. Custom customer journeys. Integrated third party apps. This site has it all.

Built in partnership with ABOL MEDIA in Fredericton, NB, this Wix Studio project features a 2-in-1 custom app built in Wix Blocks. The interactive document tool allows clients to add rich content (text, images, videos, downloads, and more), which is then organized with an intuitive auto-navigation system. We also built a searchable resource engine to handle their extensive library of supporting materials—videos, URLs, documents, and more—linking everything seamlessly.

Andrew Churchill was already using Wix but wanted a site that matched his new brand, had better flow, and loaded faster. We teamed up with Andrew and his design team to refresh the site, aligning it with his updated branding and campaign. We also improved the user experience by integrating a direct LMS, reorganizing content, and helping update the site messaging.

With booking tools, restaurant systems, a custom room comparison widget, and a guest itinerary planner, this site is packed with features. Wrapped in a beautiful design, it all adds up to more bookings and easy management for their staff.

Set up by myself, Josh Welch, an avid, keen and young hiker who wants to share my experiences with others to help them grow as I do. This site is a community project set up with the aim to share not only the basic details of a hike but rather more detailed notes and directions about the trail you want to walk. I engineered a robust, automated workflow that synchronizes new orders from a Wix e-commerce store directly into the Bexio accounting system. This solution eliminates manual data entry and ensures real-time financial record accuracy by bridging the gap between both platforms.
I built the architecture around three core components:
Wix Velo Event Handling: I implemented Velo's full-stack development platform to capture real-time e-commerce events. I developed backend code for the onOrderApproved event that securely collects complete order payloads—including customer details, line items, and totals—then initiates the synchronization process by calling my custom-built external API endpoint.
Serverless Node.js Backend on Vercel: I developed a custom Node.js application deployed as a serverless function on Vercel for optimal scalability and cost-efficiency. This backend serves as the central integration hub, exposing a secure API route that receives order data from the Wix site. I implemented comprehensive business logic including data validation, format transformation from Wix order structure to Bexio API requirements, and orchestrated the entire communication flow. This decoupled architecture ensures complex integration logic is handled outside the Wix environment for enhanced performance and maintainability.
Advanced Bexio API Integration: I created a dedicated BexioClient class in Node.js to manage all Bexio interactions. This client handles secure authentication using personal access tokens and encapsulates all necessary API calls for creating contacts, orders, and invoices. I implemented an intelligent "draft workflow" that creates draft orders and invoices in Bexio rather than final documents, allowing business owners manual review and approval control. I also engineered a dynamic configuration system that automatically fetches correct tax rates and revenue accounts from Bexio, making the solution resilient to accounting setup changes.
This project demonstrates my ability to design and build complete end-to-end integration solutions. It showcases my expertise in Wix Velo for frontend event management, Node.js for creating scalable serverless backends, custom API route design and consumption, and navigating complex third-party financial APIs like Bexio with advanced tax handling requirements.
